The activities have a nationwide scope and are concentrated in three regions of Poland: Lower Silesian, Masovian and West Pomeranian. From the Lower Silesian region, the participants are students of the I General Secondary School in Bolesławiec, the Construction Schools Complex in Bolesławiec and the ASSA Social General Secondary School in Wrocław.
Informal Volunteer Corps groups have been established at institutions in the regions, with their headquarters located in schools. The supervisors of the School Corps are people appointed to this role by school principals. The supervisors’ task is to maintain regular contact with the supervisor of activities in the given province.
During the project, workshops were held for participants with trainers and experts, covering such topics as active participation in local society, initiating activities, first aid and the very idea of volunteering. The training was conducted by specialists from the Wspólnota Polska Association, trainers and invited experts from the local community.
The project’s most important idea is to direct the participants’ activities towards a specific group of recipients—in this case, Poles repatriated from the former republics of the USSR, with particular emphasis on the educational needs of children and young people.
The Lower Silesian Volunteer Corps, under the supervision of Agata Żukowska, carried out a series of training sessions in schools and a range of activities, including lessons at the Museum of Ceramics, educational activities and a St. Nicholas Day event at the school in Szczytnica, an educational trip to Wrocław, handicraft workshops and numerous other initiatives in schools, hospitals and educational institutions.
The final stage of the project in Lower Silesia is a Christmas Eve meeting for participants, together with the families of repatriates, trainers, experts and invited guests. The final nationwide activity is the “Volunteer Corps” conference in Pułtusk, to which young people from Bolesławiec have been invited; there, they will be able to exchange experiences and ideas with their peers from other regions and with invited guests.
