Sebastian Zielonka was a local historian and a graduate of the University of Wrocław, specializing in archival studies and conservation documentation. He was interested in the history of the region and the social life of Europeans in the 20th century. He traveled extensively for work. In 2025, he was planning another trip.

We had a warm relationship with Sebastian; he had published his historical articles on our website since 2014. The last project we presented together with Sebastian Zielonka was “Saving from Oblivion,” by the Foundation for Aid to Poles in the East. Sebastian and a group of documentary filmmakers produced a series of reports showing the personal experiences of the descendants of Poles deported to Kazakhstan. The material can be viewed on our website: Who Loves Poland the Most? Sebastian Zielonka Talks About Repatriates from Kazakhstan.

The residents of Kruszyn also knew their neighbor as the author of the book “Kruszyn: An Extraordinary Place.” Sebastian Zielonka was also the author of a book about historic Żeliszów, “Żeliszów – Faithful to Its Roots,” as well as the originator and organizer of numerous historical projects and workshops. The most significant of these was held in 2017 and led to the publication of the book edited by Sebastian Zielonka, “Solidary Longin Komołowski.”

We extend our deepest condolences to the Family of our Friend.
