“Behind the Blue Door,” directed by Mariusz Palej, takes viewers on an extraordinary journey. “Sully” is the story of a brave pilot who landed a damaged Airbus carrying 155 passengers on the Hudson River. On January 15, 2009, Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, played by Tom Hanks, landed the damaged aircraft on the cold waters of the Hudson, saving the lives of all 155 people on board. However, although the public and media loudly praised Sully for his exceptional flying skills, the investigation revealed facts that could destroy his reputation and career. The film was directed by Clint Eastwood.
“Hacksaw Ridge,” directed by Mel Gibson and based on true events, tells the true story of Corporal Desmond Doss, a recipient of the Medal of Honor. The end of the Second World War. The American army is engaged in fierce fighting with the Japanese for every inch of land in the Pacific. The strategic objective is the island of Okinawa, whose capture could mean Japan’s final defeat. Among the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers arriving there is Desmond T. Doss, a medic who refused to carry a weapon because of his religion. Treated with distrust and accused of cowardice, he soon proves how wrong they were about him. During the fiercest battles, repeatedly risking his life, he rescues more than 70 wounded soldiers from the battlefield. Thus is born the legend of a hero whose only weapons are faith, hope and love.
“Blindness,” the latest work by Ryszard Bugajski. The second half of the 1950s. Julia Brystygierowa, known as “Bloody Luna,” is a former official of the Ministry of Public Security. As head of the notorious Department V, she personally tortured political prisoners with sadistic determination. She was notorious for denouncing people to the NKVD, sparing none of her party comrades. Now, seeking spiritual guidance, she applies for a private audience with Primate Stefan Wyszyński (Marek Kalita). Before she can meet the head of the Church, however, Brystygierowa will have to convince a blinded priest (Janusz Gajos) and a nun suffering a crisis of faith (Małgorzata Zajączkowska) of the validity of her arguments.
