The investment is being carried out under the “Design and build” formula. The project includes a 4-kilometre section of road, 8 metres wide, and two roundabouts: on voivodeship road No. 363, Bolesławiec – Złotoryja, and on voivodeship road No. 297, Bolesławiec – Lwówek Śląski. A cycle path will be built for cyclists. Acoustic screens will be installed along a section of more than 400 metres. Street lighting will be installed in the area of the roundabouts. The rebuilt roundabout in Kruszyn will connect the new DW 297 bypass with national road No. 94, the entrance to Bolesławiec via al. Tysiąclecia and the access road to the Kruszyn housing estate.
Updates from the construction site
– In the first stage, we marked out the boundaries of the road corridor. We checked the area for unexploded ordnance. Work is currently under way on the foundations for the bridge structure – says Krzysztof Kuchmistrz, roadworks manager, Skanska. This structure is being built to ensure grade-separated passage for a municipal road. We have begun the first earthworks and removed the topsoil along the section from DW 363 to the bridge structure. Preparatory work is under way to install one of four corrugated-sheet culverts. For now, we are not planning any changes for drivers. The first disruptions will occur next year. We are currently arranging the temporary traffic organisation for the upcoming work – adds Krzysztof Kuchmistrz.
All benefits
– We are beginning an investment that is very important for the municipality and the voivodeship – says Witold Nietubyć, director of the Engineering Construction Branch in Wrocław. – The Bolesławiec bypass will bring numerous benefits for drivers and residents. It will reduce transit traffic on the Jelenia Góra – DK 94, A4, A18 route, while drivers will gain in terms of travel time and safety. The investment will also help reduce wear and tear on streets in the urban area. Living conditions for Bolesławiec residents will improve: traffic volumes, noise and vibrations will decrease. Awareness of these benefits gives us, as the bypass contractor, confidence that we are building something that benefits society – adds Witold Nietubyć.
