The artist is known in Bolesławiec for participating in the 51st International Ceramic and Sculptural Symposium. Jakub Biewald began creating “Growing” in 2014 as part of his diploma project, defended at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The series consists of ceramic sculptural forms made using the so-called coil-building method. It involves adding one coil after another and joining each successive one to the growing form without smoothing over the connections.

The forms on display are inspired by nature and the creative process. In both cases, growth is desired and inevitable. Growth co-creates the structure together with destruction, with which it is inseparably connected. Often, it is precisely through destruction that we can perceive the inner construction of forms.
