Nearly 600 teachers from countries participating in the eTwinning programme met in the Greek capital. Representatives of education ministries from across Europe were also present.

eTwinning is a school community bringing together schools and kindergartens from across Europe and beyond, which cooperate using electronic media. eTwinning also provides professional development for teachers.

Students and teachers use the Internet to cooperate across borders—they work together and exchange information and learning materials. eTwinning expands the range of educational opportunities available to students and teachers, motivates them to learn and to become more open to Europe. The programme has already brought together more than 400,000 teachers from 168,000 schools, who collectively work on more than 50,000 diverse projects each year.
