In January 2017, ABCT subunits and equipment will be deployed to Poland. Initially, it will be stationed in western Poland, between Drawsko Pomorskie and Żagań. Subsequently, some of its elements will be deployed to other locations in the area of NATO’s eastern flank. Over time, certain ABCT elements will also be stationed at several other locations. As part of the first rotation, the brigade headquarters, as well as the engineer and support battalions, the 3rd Battalion of the 29th Field Artillery Regiment and the 4th Battalion of the 10th Cavalry Regiment will be stationed at military facilities in Żagań, Świętoszów, Skwierzyna and Bolesławiec.

Minister of National Defence Antoni Macierewicz stressed during last week’s meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels that these troops would be deployed not to conduct exercises, but to be immediately ready for combat if necessary.
