Łukasz Rewers from the Leszek Latarowski/Ł. Rewers:
After a short break, we returned with the Audi 80 Quattro for KJS Jesień 2016 – the Katarzyna Czypionka Memorial, organized by AZT Zgorzelec. The event was divided into two days. [...] As usual, something always goes wrong; this time, it was paperwork-related problems. After an intensive brainstorming session, we managed to start. Start at around 3:00 p.m., finish at around 7:00 p.m. After the first stage, we were in third place. The key to success turned out to be our well-chosen gravel tyres. The next day: three tests run three times each. After the first loop, Leszek Latarowski was already getting a feel for the tyres, and we began improving our times and making corrections to the pace notes. It turned out that we were charging ahead and had moved into the leading group. On the subsequent tests, we made up between two and six seconds. The rally itself was muddy, potholed and fast – just right for our cumbersome “grandma Audi”. No punctures, no mistakes, and we managed to take first place in Class IV and third overall.
Wojciech “Rozi” Rozmus, half of the Grzegorz Kunka/W. Rozmus:
The season has come to an end for our club, but the last two weekends of October were very intense. We took part in Baja Inter Cars Szprotawa–Żagań, where we were part of the team of our club colleague Krzyśka Michrowskiego, who drove a Jeep Wrangler in the S1+3000 class in the Polish Cross-Country Rally Cup and was co-driven by Michała Wiśniewskiego. The crew finished the rally in sixth place, but second or third place was within reach.
Now we return to our own backyard. We report to Zgorzelec for the Katarzyna Czypionka Memorial and KJS/DMO Jesień 2016 Noc Świętojańska. BC Rally appears with three crews:
- Grzegorz Kunka/Wojciech Rozmus, Class IV, BMW E30
- Leszek Latarowski/Łukasz Rewers, Class IV, Audi 80
- Krzysztof Michrowski/Elian Biskupski, Class III, Citroën Saxo.
The first day consisted of reconnaissance and the Memorial. The tests took place late in the evening in the Sulików municipality. The organizers chose loose, fairly technical gravel surfaces. On the first day, only one of our crews took first place: Grzegorz Kunka, driving with Wojciech Rozmus; Krzysiek and Elian finished the first stage in fourth place [...].
The second day consisted of three tests run three times each – with gravel, concrete and mud surfaces, naturally. The conditions were sometimes pure off-road. The technical and fast tests gave us plenty of driving enjoyment and fierce competition, in which, as always, hundredths of a second count.
The atmosphere, as always among the competitors, was friendly. It is worth mentioning the members of our club who also provided safety coverage and officiated on the stages.
It was one of the better weekends of the season, as three crews took first, second and third places. This was not a dream season […], but we hope that we will meet again on rally stages in 2017. Results:
- Latarowski/Rewers – 1
- Kunka/Rozmus – 2, 1 in the Katarzyna Czypionka Memorial
- Michrowski/Biskupski – 3.
At the end of the season, the Grzegorz Kunka/Wojciech Rozmus crew had 28 points and occupied first place in Class IV.
