The match between Gwardia Wrocław and BTS Elektros is behind us. The “Electricians” once again made an excellent start, winning the first set against the volleyball players from the capital of Lower Silesia 25–21. For most of the opening set, the Wrocław team maintained a lead of several points, but the “Electricians” managed to level the score at 18–18. In the closing stages, however, the team from the City of Ceramics proved more effective.
The curse of the second set has been broken! In this set, the visiting team once again defeated the hosts 25–21. Unfortunately, the third set went to the Gwardia players. The Bolesławiec team failed to hold on to its substantial lead. Their opponents caught up with the “Electricians” and won the set 26–24.
The fourth set also went to the Bolesławiec team (25–22)! The “Electricians’” first victory in the second-division competition—and in an away match against Gwardia Wrocław itself—became a reality. A week ago, after the BTS Elektros vs Sobieski Żagań match, president of the Bolesławiec Volleyball Association Jacek Łuczkowski said: “For the fourth match in a row, we have started by winning the set. This shows that there is potential in this team. But what we need as urgently as oxygen is a victory. And this is not a matter of ability, because if in the fourth consecutive match—regardless of whether we play a team from the lower part of the table or the leader—we win the opening set, it means that we are not falling behind. We are not worse than the other second-division teams. We need a breakthrough match.”
And that is exactly what happened. Thanks to this victory, the Bolesławiec team move up the Group Four II League table from ninth to seventh place. From here, things can only get better! Next Saturday, the “Electricians” will play at home. After facing the volleyball players from the capital of Lower Silesia, it will be time for their first clash with a team from the capital of Greater Poland—AZS UAM Poznań.
