The Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec organized the District Eliminations of the Recitation Competition for primary schools on 10 and 11 March 1995. A total of 110 reciters took part in two age categories.
This year's eliminations, despite the large number of entries, proceeded smoothly and featured many interesting interpretations. Contemporary poetry by J. Tuwim, Cz. Miłosz, J. Twardowski, W. Szymborska and A. Kamieńska predominated. The classics were represented by the difficult works of C. K. Norwid.
The competition's aim—to popularize poetry and prose among children and young people and to improve the culture of the native language through artistic forms of expression—appears to have been achieved.
