At one of its most recent meetings, the Commune Executive Board established the conditions and principles for comprehensive liming of agricultural land in the Bolesławiec commune.
In the 1995 budget plan, an amount was reserved to partially finance the project, while efforts are being made to obtain the remaining funds from the administrators of voivodeship earmarked funds (despite the initially declared funds from the Agricultural Land Reclamation and Protection Fund, intended for carrying out restorative liming of soils, a final decision on this matter has not been made).
For the time being, the Commune Executive Board decided that it was no longer possible to wait for financial assistance and that the campaign should begin using the commune’s own funds.
The following procedure, conditions and principles to be followed in implementing the comprehensive restorative soil-liming program were established:
- 16,000 tonnes of lime will be brought to the commune, in accordance with the order, from the “Nowy Ląd” mine, based on a standard of 4 tonnes of lime per 1 hectare,
- the price of lime set by “Nowy Ląd” is PLN 6.50 (old PLN 65,000) per tonne, of which the farmer’s contribution would be PLN 1 (old PLN 10,000) per tonne,
- the commune will cover the cost of purchasing and transporting the lime (in 20–25-tonne loads) to the relevant village and unloading it at designated locations (necessarily beside roads with a hard surface), while each farmer will spread it independently,
- restorative liming will cover all land belonging to individual farmers, except land sold for aggregate extraction, fallow land, and land in respect of which tax arrears exist,
- land leased by farmers under agreements concluded with the Agricultural Property Agency of the State Treasury will be included in the liming program after a grant is obtained from the Voivodeship Agricultural Land Reclamation and Protection Fund,
- restorative liming will begin in the southern part of the commune, in villages where soil fertility surveys have been conducted.
