Tourism is an extremely important form of activity for children and young people. For teachers, it makes it possible to integrate educational and pastoral activities; to "smuggle in" knowledge and skills while visiting Gothic churches and traversing mountain trails (with a compass and songbook in hand).
The STOWARZYSZENIE NAUCZYCIELI TWÓRCZYCH took advantage of this opportunity. Under the direction of deputy chairman ROMAN BINKIEWICZ, its members organize numerous tourist excursions. These are interschool events and trips that foster friendship among students. Shared experiences and games mean that their participants, whether from schools "6", "1" or "8", simply become – BOLESŁAWIANS! They form a friendly, singing (and often admired on the trail) group of tourists from "Bolec" and proudly show it off on the summits of Śnieżka, Ślęża or Sokolik. They learn songs from one another, compete, solve tourist puzzles and take photographs, because each trip has its own character and central theme – it is "musical", "Polish-language" or "geological".
Master Binkiewicz continually amazes with the appeal, ingenuity and professionalism of his proposals, which is why they are highly popular. What is more, the group of association teachers he trained in courses for leaders of mountain excursions in Kamień near Świeradów has changed the "school map of tourist activity" in our city. At present, the most powerful tourism lobby is at Primary School No. 6. Pupils from schools "9", "1", "8" and "10" most often hike together with "Szóstka". Children from the Primary School in Ocice, Bolesławiec's "5" and the Lwówek social school (because it is "associated") join them.
It is also necessary to mention the annual Bolesławiec Dwarfs' Rally – an event for the youngest hiking enthusiasts, which has already become a tourist hallmark of the city. With the support of the local authorities, both initiatives could – to an even greater extent – become an opportunity to coordinate efforts to develop tourism in Bolesławiec.
