The exhibition was organized by the Ośrodek „Pamięć i Przyszłość” in cooperation with the Karta Center Foundation and Bolesławiec’s Museum of Ceramics. The exhibition consists of 50 photographs depicting both important political events from 1968 and the everyday life of Poles at that time.
The exhibition focuses on 1968, the peak of the Polish People’s Republic. Between the two extreme dates—January 1947 and June 1989—March 1968 marks the exact midpoint. On the one hand, this period was the strongest evidence of the system’s stability; on the other, it mercilessly exposed its falsehood and initiated a process of change in collective awareness.
