The Fish Farm in Parowa has permitted fishing in its fish-farming ponds for a fee since May 1, 1995.
Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk. Within the time specified by the regulations, anglers may catch the permitted quantity and species of fish. However, it is also possible to catch fish not covered by the regulations, such as tench, roach, perch and pike. This is a kind of reward for the angler.
In 1994, Stanisław Woźniak caught a pike weighing 6.3 kg. The photograph shows the angler at his fishing spot—the ponds in Parowa. For catching the largest fish, the angler was awarded a fishing reel and an additional full day of fishing. However, he did not manage to catch another record fish that day, only several kilograms of tench, perch and carp.
In 1994, the Fish Farm sold 2,300 licenses. This year, carp, each weighing more than 2 kg, and a considerable number of large pike, each weighing more than 4 kg, were released into the pond. There are 30 fishing spots available to anglers. Isn’t that too few? It would be good if fishing from a boat were allowed for an additional fee. Smoked carp and tench could be served to gourmets.
Anglers came to Parowa from Głogów, Wrocław, Wałbrzych, and even from Czechoslovakia and Germany. No fishing card is required for fishing, only a license, which can be purchased at the Fish Farm or ordered by telephone at 18-88, Parowa.
