I hereby declare that I am resigning from cooperation with the Editorial Office headed by you. I am doing so reluctantly, given my fondness for this publication.
The reason is the ease with which information was provided to a person who came to the editorial office regarding the anonymous author of the note “Glory to the National Armed Forces” in the latest issue of the publication. I was that author.
The Editorial Office must follow certain rules applied by all editorial offices regarding the names of authors who request anonymity, and these rules must not be broken. An author writing to a publication who requests anonymity must trust the editorial office to remain anonymous. Otherwise, there can be no question of cooperation. Under press law, in exceptional cases editorial offices may reveal an author’s identity. This was not such a case.
Similar incidents have already occurred in the past.
I will say more: during the meeting of the editorial team on 10 April of this year at 5:00 p.m., I was not informed at all that my name had been disclosed and that a person outraged by my text would soon appear—which indeed happened.
I kindly ask you to inform the Esteemed Readers of “Głos Bolesławca” in a few words, advising them not to write anonymously.
Please accept my expressions of respect and esteem.
From the Editorial Office:
I apologize to the Colonel, our valued contributor and author of interesting and esteemed texts, for the tactlessness committed—not by me—and the distress it caused. I express my regret and assure you that constructive conclusions will be drawn from the sad experience of the team editing the publication.
