And so it happened. We now have a resident of Bolesławiec who has won the prestigious title of Polish Champion. She is Mrs Jolanta Anasiewicz, known from the sports section of “Głos”.
The results she had achieved earlier allowed us to look optimistically ahead to the participation of the TKKF “Bolesławianka” representative in the Polish Bench Press Championships, held on 10–11 June in Bełchatów. In the “elite” category of Polish female athletes, she proved to be the best and, weighing just 48 kg, pressed 70 kg—17.5 kg better than the official Polish record.
She was also the best in the all-weight category. To determine the value of each result achieved during the competition, a special table used worldwide is consulted. The weight lifted is compared with the athlete’s body weight. Here too, the result of 70 kg was the most favorable for our petite representative.
The Polish Champion title, an impressive trophy and a microwave oven became Mrs Jola’s property. Afterwards there were many congratulations, autographs and commemorative photographs. Such is the pleasant price of a sportswoman already known throughout Poland. Coach Sławomir Respondek also received congratulations.
The colleagues from the Bolesławiec team did not want to be outdone by Mrs Jola and, following her example, also achieved splendid successes. Krzysztof Kuśnierzowski, improving his personal best with a result of 145 kg at a body weight of 79 kg, won a silver medal, while Sławomir Purta, with a personal best of 122.5 kg (at 65 kg), took third place. Both competed in the older juniors’ group. A three-person team and three medals. Bravo. For information, 23 female competitors and 160 male competitors from across the country took part in the competition.
