As announced, we are informing you of further details of our competition for the best-flowered balcony. We are pleased to note that it has attracted considerable interest in the local community. Unfortunately – the deadline is slowly approaching, and it is time to assess the results of the competition, which we will announce in the next issue of “Głos”. We will also take Readers’ opinions into account; these can be submitted by telephone.
We already have our favourites, especially the balcony of Krystyna Strzelecka at B. Prusa Street, and those of Michalina Krezel and Mrs Szajowa on the same street. We like the tiny balcony on Karpecka Street, several genuine gardens behind the Market Square, and others in different parts of the city. We are counting on suggestions from interested people and proposals for distinctions.
And the prizes? This year they are still modest. The reliable sponsor turned out to be Mr Janusz Jakubowski, who donated beautiful collections of fine ceramics with stamped decoration. The TMB president funded an impressive cup for the winner. All laureates will also receive special diplomas presented by the Mayor of the City. Next year, we will expand the scope of the competition /home gardens/, as well as the circle of sponsors. What matters is that the beauty of the splendid town on the Bóbr has been enhanced thanks to lovers of flowers, beauty and ecology.
