"Let us hurry to love people—they leave so quickly ..."
J. Twardowski, poet
Once again, we bow our heads in sad, heartfelt reflection over the graves of our loved ones. Millions of candles will be lit in Polish cemeteries—and elsewhere too. The graves will be covered with a colorful carpet of autumn flowers.
Someone once said that a person’s death begins at the moment of their birth. Everyone dies alone. Memento mori... you were created from dust and to dust you will return...
On this day, there is no need to proclaim many words. Reflection and silence are fitting, as are humility and a warm remembrance of the beloved people and the faces of those who have departed forever. A remembrance of the fragility of human life, of our existence among others. And that is enough.
