You won our poll for the 1994 Athlete of the Year. Congratulations. Are you surprised by this result?
— I am very happy about the victory. Looking through the list of competitors, I believe many of them should have been ahead of me. I sincerely thank everyone who voted for me.
2. A major success for a young athlete, but life goes on. What are your sporting plans for this year?
— This success will motivate me to continue working on myself, although I treat it as excellent fun. This year, my team and I will fight hard for points and the highest possible place in the table at the end of the competition.
3. As a coach, IM. Szapiel, your trainer, won. What do you think about his resignation?
— It is a pity that he resigned. I believe he should have stayed with us until the end of the competition. If his theory that “a new coach will bring out additional energy in you” proves correct, the second round will show whether his resignation was justified.
4. Will the change of coach have a significant impact on the junior team’s performance on the field?
— Such a change can have both positive and negative aspects. In this case, I believe that the new coach, mgr Jednoróg, has been accepted by the team; we are training intensively and with great commitment.
5. A large proportion of the votes for you came from female voters. Do you perhaps already have someone special?
— I am pleased that I have admirers. As for having a steady girlfriend, it is still too early, as she could disrupt my sporting plans.
6. The editorial office received two letters containing as many as 145 votes for you in total (unfortunately, they were not accepted). Do you know where so many supporters came from?
— Yes. One came from my current school (ZSZ on Komuny Paryskiej Street), organized by my friend M. Michałeczko, and the other from my former Primary School No. 5, where, among others, my teachers, Ms Kicińska, Ms Masłowska and Ms Mielniczak, contributed votes.
7. You are halfway through the season in the MO league. What are your impressions of the pitches in Lower Silesia?
— All the matches are closely contested, and the teams are evenly matched. We even played one match at the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław. Away from home, we are well received by the hosts, we play on much better pitches than in Bolesławiec, and the stadiums are well maintained and have proper facilities (baths, etc.).
8. You are reaching the end of junior age this year. What next?
— I want to continue developing by playing and training, and achieve something in life through hard sporting work. I would also like to play in BKS’s first team, if there is a place for me there.
9. Would you like to add anything else?
— Yes. My uncle, Frank Baron from Bonn, is my devoted supporter. He helps me not only spiritually but also buys the sports equipment in which I play and train. I would like to thank him sincerely for everything.
