The untimely death of Professor J. Jańczak should spur us to accelerate work on the Bolesławiec monograph. Everyone working on the monograph knows that, in general, the entire period up to 1945 has already been researched by academic staff of the University of Wrocław. Most of the material covering the period after 1945 has also been prepared and requires only minor corrections, as it was compiled several years ago.
The greatest problems are posed by the chapter devoted to the city’s culture after 1945, because previously the team had not made specific arrangements regarding authorship of this chapter. The team currently responsible for preparing the chapter has already made considerable progress, but the pace is still too slow. We therefore appeal to all the authors on this team to speed up their work. It would be good for the team to meet in March this year. Let me remind you that the Karkonoskie Towarzystwo Naukowe continues to supervise the monograph as a whole, while the Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolesławca serves as a liaison and co-organizer of team meetings.
