On January 24, a knowledge and skills competition organized by the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Kruszyn was held in Dąbrowa. The participants were children from grades II and III of primary schools in: Ocice, Kruszyn, Dąbrowa, Nowe Jaroszowice, Stare Jaroszowice, Kraśnik Dolny, Trzebień, Łaziska and Żeliszów.
The schools entered two delegations each—the first was a skills group, while the second answered questions. Most of the questions were not difficult, and the children handled them quite well. After three skills events and four rounds of questions (Polish, mathematics, the environment and miscellaneous questions), the winners emerged.
The competition was overseen by a committee consisting of: Ms Urszula Róg (chair of the Education, Culture, Sport, Health and Social Affairs Committee of the Bolesławiec Municipal Council), Ms Teresa Olszewska, a culture employee, and Mr Janusz Cieśla, Director of GOKiS. Now for the results. First place went to the students of the primary school in Ocice, second place to SP Kruszyn, and third place to SP in Kraśnik Dolny.
All the children received tasty gifts, while the winners received trophies for their schools and individual prizes.
On January 28, a Review of Carol-Singing Groups was held in Bogatynia. Our municipality was represented by two groups: the folk group from Ocice and the Żeliszów Folk Group, operating at the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre. We succeeded! We did not return empty-handed. Both of our groups took second place, but in different categories. Ocice for its presentation of “Carollers,” and Żeliszów for its beautiful women. The fun was wonderful. Displays of Christmas Eve tables delighted not only the eyes; every dish could be sampled. To appreciate the participants’ wonderful coordination, one simply had to be there.
