On 27 June 1994, Legnica Bishop Tadeusz Rybak, pursuant to Canon 523 of the Code of Canon Law, appointed Rev. Andrzej Gidziński, MA, administrator of the newly erected parish of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ in Bolesławiec Śl., in the Bolesławiec Śl. – West deanery. The bishop granted Rev. Gidziński the necessary powers and the right to bless marriages. The bishop tasked Rev. Andrzej with undertaking the effort to build a new church, a presbytery and other buildings necessary for the proper functioning of the newly established parish. From the very beginning, the parish priest met with the kindness and generosity of the parishioners. This enabled him to undertake fruitful work. He began Sunday pastoral ministry by celebrating Masses in the temporary chapel on Orzeszkowej Street at 7:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sundays, and at 9:00 a.m. in Łąka. During the week, he celebrated Mass at 6:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for confession before the service. From the outset, he also established a parish office. Rev. Gidziński immediately began carrying out the tasks assigned to him by Bishop Rybak. Already on Monday, 3 July 1994, at 7:00 p.m., he organized a meeting for people who wished to become involved in preparing for the construction of the church and in organizing the temporary chapel and construction facilities. The local community responded satisfactorily. In addition, the first material assistance began to arrive, making it possible to cover initial expenses, including the water bill. It is worth noting that one of the neighboring parish priests helped make and install a suitable tabernacle. The following days were also favorable for the parish established at the end of June. By 1994, a throne for the tabernacle had been made, accommodation for the parish priest had been arranged, and gutters had been purchased and then installed on 12 July on the temporary chapel barrack. Leaks in the chapel were repaired, a sewage tank was concreted, and bathroom equipment was installed. Independently of this extensive economic and construction activity, work began on creating parish structures. A Parish Council was appointed, which significantly improved Rev. Gidziński’s work, becoming involved above all in economic and construction activities. The council held meetings quite frequently.
The parish did not neglect its principal purpose, namely strengthening and developing the religious and moral life of the faithful. The parish priest celebrated Masses on Sundays and weekdays and provided opportunities for confession. He became involved in broader diocesan and nationwide youth activities. Among other things, he organized a walking pilgrimage of his parishioners to Częstochowa. Already at the end of July 1994, a novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help was introduced and thereafter celebrated on Wednesdays; on Thursdays, a service in honor of the Blood of Christ was initiated. The newly established parish was also assisted by the Municipal Office, which handled the administrative matters exemplary. The company Bram secured the transport of pallets connected with the unloading of construction materials. In the second half of July 1994, parishioners prepared the ground for a tool shed and pruned mulberry trees growing on the construction site. In addition, a surveyor marked the boundary points of the land designated for construction of the church. The parish priest’s commitment and the enthusiasm of individual parishioners inspired hope that the undertakings would be successfully completed.
