Only today are we publishing our Reader Mr WŁADYSŁAW HAWRAN’s December letter from London:
"I lived and worked in Bolesławiec for five months. The town reminded me of my hometown of Brody (Tarnopol Voivodeship), and that is why I grew very fond of it. Here I truly returned to my homeland after more than 50 years, because I lived under the same conditions as the other residents. Here, too, I met many noble and warm-hearted people.
Now, after two years, I received five issues of "Głos Bolesławca". I am very pleased that the town has its own newspaper. I read with great interest about the town’s changes, works, plans, monuments and history. During my stay, I admired the parish of Saint Cyril and Methodius and the Adorers of the Blood of Christ sisters for their good work in educating children. That is why I was pleased to read about their history. More could be written about this.
As far as I know, major changes are taking place at the former Mining School and in education in general, and there are also major problems. This would be an interesting topic for many readers. I brought several ceramic products from Bolesławiec. My acquaintances in London always praise their artistic appearance. The noble white-and-steel-coloured clay, without any trace of red, attracts attention.
I hope that Głos continues to develop, and I wish the Editorial Office much success. I send greetings to my former students, the educators with whom I worked, and everyone I met in Bolesławiec."
From the Editorial Office. Thank you for remembering us and for your good wishes. In this issue we are already writing about educational matters (critically), and in the next one we will begin a regular series presenting schools and educational issues. We are enclosing several new copies of "Głos".
