Councillor Dr Janina PIESTRAK-BABIJCZUK called for sensible illuminated signage at pedestrian crossings, especially those used by children, at the most dangerous points in the town. A moment of inattention can often lead to tragedy, and Bolesławiec has no shortage of such examples.
She also drew attention to the poor quality and probably reduced calorific value of the natural gas used in households for cooking, bathing and heating homes. Air is sometimes mixed into the gas supplied, causing the flame to go out spontaneously—and that is no laughing matter. What is needed here is not only expert assessment but also ongoing monitoring of the work of the Gasworks.
