Walking around the city with groups of young people and listening attentively, one can sometimes hear interesting suggestions—perhaps not always realistic, but arising from young people’s perspective on the city. Here are several of them for consideration:
For more than 200 years, Bolesławiec’s tourist attraction was a large ceramic pot made in 1753 at the Botlieb Joppe workshop. It was over 2.5 m high, had a circumference of 3.24 m and a capacity of 165 l. The pot was destroyed in 1945; a copy half its size is located in the museum in Siegburg. Could today’s master potters recreate the pot and place it somewhere where it could once again be a ceramic attraction in a city with longstanding ceramic traditions?
On the PSS property on Zgorzelecka Street stands a sculpture of Jupiter made by Weber, the same artist whose sculptures stand by the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Should this historic sculpture not be moved to another, more prominent location V
The lack of information about many of Bolesławiec’s sites makes it difficult to understand their historic value and history. It would be a good idea to make durable information plaques and place them on historic sites.
