During the latest local elections, the people of Bolesławiec showed what we Poles are like when it comes to politics: 70 percent of people do not believe that anything can change and therefore did not take part in the elections. Their situation is worsening day by day. The truth cannot be hidden, and the figures speak for themselves. The fourth year of systemic transformation in Poland is passing, while the results of the work of politicians, MPs and senators are at best meagre; I will not even mention the president. As an ordinary citizen of the Third Polish Republic, I care about the most important matters. And so: the number of unemployed has reached 3 million, and this is the only “value” comparable with Western countries—but let us remember that our wages are 20 times lower and do not allow one working person to support a family and cover housing costs, which is why in Poland a woman has to work. It is a paradox that in Poland 70% of household expenditure is allocated to buying food (out of necessity, not greed, as the “well-fed” try to explain). This indicator is comparable with the countries of Latin America; the real value of our money and our wages also bears this out. I fear that our American model of capitalism was taken from the wrong America!
