A well-known figure in Bolesławiec society was Col. Eng. Antoni Stocki, who was involved in the establishment of a Polish Armed Forces missile unit. The course of his professional career was highly distinctive. He graduated from the Military Academy in Leningrad and, having been drafted into the Soviet Army, took part in the wartime campaign from Lenino to Berlin. He served in the Polish Army from June 1944 to May 1969. He held very important positions, beginning as head of a division's armaments workshop, then becoming Chief of Division Armaments, Chief Engineer of the Rocket Artillery Brigade, and finally Head of the Armaments and Electronics Service of the Silesian Military District.
After retiring, he actively participated in the work of ZBOWiD in Bolesławiec and was highly regarded in military circles as well as by the people of Bolesławiec. He received many combat decorations, including the Polonia Restituta and the Knight's Cross and Officer's Cross.
He will remain forever in our memory.
