In 1988, an agricultural census was conducted, covering all agricultural sectors – individual, state and cooperative farming. In 1989, a representative census was carried out in randomly selected individual farms. Thus, over the past five years, statistical data obtained during these censuses were used, even though the economic changes that occurred in the country, including in agriculture, caused this information to become considerably outdated.
This year, the government decided to conduct a representative agricultural census. The census results will make it possible to assess the general situation currently existing in agricultural production.
The representative agricultural census will be conducted in the municipality from 1 to 10 July this year, based on the situation as at midnight on 30 June this year. The census will cover:
-individual agricultural plots with an area of 0.10–1 ha and farms with an area of 1.01–50 ha – more than 150 randomly selected farms in total,
-all farms with an area of more than 50 ha.
The agricultural census will cover the following subjects
1) individual agricultural farm users:
-area of land and crops in use,
-changes in farm area over the past four years,
-livestock by species and age/use groups,
-agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as cars and tractors,
-water supply and a three-phase electrical network,
-the amount of loans taken out and farm indebtedness,
-other, non-agricultural economic activity of the farm,
-persons in the household of which the individual agricultural farm user is a member
2) agricultural plot users:
-area of agricultural land,
-livestock by species (cattle, pigs, sheep).
By order of the Wójt of Bolesławiec Municipality, seven census enumerators were appointed to conduct the agricultural census.
Census information is covered by official secrecy and will be used exclusively for statistical purposes.
