THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, A NUMBER OF CRIMES HAVE BEEN REPORTED – ROBBERIES TARGETING PEOPLE TRAVELLING IN TRUCKS AND PASSENGER CARS ALONG ROADS.
THE CRIMINALS’ OBJECTIVES ARE:
-robbery of the transported goods or money obtained from their sale or intended for purchases,
-robbery of the vehicle itself or of a vehicle carrying goods,
-extortion of a ransom – a fee for passage (mainly concerning CIS citizens).
THEREFORE, IF YOU ARE A DRIVER, BUSINESSPERSON OR TRADER AND TRANSPORT CASH OR VALUABLE GOODS, BUT WANT TO AVOID TROUBLE, TRY TO FOLLOW OUR ADVICE.
SINCE EACH OF THE CRIMES LISTED IS GENERALLY PREPARED AND PLANNED IN ADVANCE, REMEMBER:
-be alert and pay attention to vehicles in which young men are sitting and which follow you for an extended period,
-if you have a CB radio in your vehicle, contact the nearest Police unit on channel 9 (the emergency channel) and report your observations to the duty officer (most Police units have CB radios),
-under no circumstances stop in a secluded place at the request of people behaving suspiciously. Keep driving, and if that is impossible, for example because the road is blocked, turn around and go to the nearest Police unit,
-use special cases for transporting larger amounts of money; in the event of theft, they mark their contents,
-if you need to rest while driving, avoid car parks and road verges far from residential areas. Use only guarded car parks at motels or in towns,
-if you are going to a car market intending to sell your car, never go alone. There have been cases of car theft or coercion to sign a purchase-and-sale agreement during so-called test drives. SO BE CAREFUL!
