ON A BUS, ON A TRAIN...
No matter what means of transport you travel by, the same thing can happen to you. An open bag, a jacket or coat with a wallet and documents hanging on a hook, or luggage left unattended even for a moment are an invitation to a thief. Always keep an eye on the behaviour of strangers travelling with you.
BE ALERT!
Police statistics show that most pickpocketing takes place during rush hour on buses and trains, where offenders skilfully take advantage of crowds, confusion and a lack of vigilance when boarding and getting off, as well as during the journey itself. Property theft and robbery, on the other hand, are more prevalent in the evening and at night.
TO PREVENT SUCH SITUATIONS – REMEMBER
Watch out for pickpockets and consider whether your money and documents are properly secured;
pay particular attention to the people around you;
on public transport, always choose a seat near the driver or people you know – avoid empty compartments;
avoid, whenever possible, stops located in isolated areas;
try not to travel alone;
when travelling after drinking alcohol, you are more likely to become a victim of criminals (do not give in to an unknown passenger’s invitation to drink alcohol offered by them during the journey).
THINK ABOUT IT!
