On 16 March, the second Municipal Children’s Song Contest was held in Kruszyn. Children and young people from 11 primary schools in the Bolesławiec Municipality took part in the contest. Schools from the following localities performed: Nowe Jaroszowice, Łaziska, Kraśnik Górny, Ocice, Brzeźnik, Kruszyn, Bożejowice, Kraśnik Dolny, Nowa Wieś Kraśnicka, Trzebień and Żeliszów. The main aim of the contest was to get schoolchildren singing, as we all know what a problem this is. Because of the lack of instrumental facilities and teachers who play any instrument, we expected relatively few entries. We were greatly encouraged by the large number of children taking part in the contest. Out of 14 primary schools in the Municipality, 11 entered. Praise is due to the teachers and pupils who want to do something and take part in activities. Małgosia Szczurek from Łaziska won first place in the soloists’ category, Kasia Ślimak from Kruszyn came second, and Joanna Goleńska from Trzebień came third. In the groups’ category, first place went to the girls from Ocice: Agnieszka Ostrowska, Justyna Berny, Maria Twardowska, Anna Sabadasz, Agata Parcej, Elwira Struś, Marta Matyjewicz, Elwira Matyjewicz, Urszula Matyjewicz, Wioleta Zając, Edyta Jakięła and Urszula Karaban. Second place also went to Ocice: Justyna Berny, Agnieszka Ostrowska and Anna Sabadasz. The group from Kruszyn took third place: Małgosia Gut, Cyprian Kostrzewa, Magda Miler and Anna Buszta. Special mentions went to the group from the Primary School in Nowa Wieś Kraśnicka and the trio from Brzeźnik. In the soloists’ category: Marek Pałka from Łaziska and Urszula Żugaj from Zeliszów. Paweł Kińdzierski from Kraśnik Dolny received a special mention for accompaniment.
