When, a year ago, a group of ambitious people who were also suffering from heart disease initiated the DAR SERCA campaign, encouraging people of goodwill to contribute toward the purchase of an ultrasound scanner, few believed the campaign would be effective. Readers already know how the campaign ended: in July, our hospital received an ultrasound machine for examining heart disease and coronary vessels, worth more than half a billion zlotys, and at the end of the year, thanks to further donations, a set of diagnostic and surgical equipment for the larynx was donated to the Otolaryngology Department (in accordance with the ZOZ’s wishes), worth more than 260 million zlotys.
Both of these costly items, obtained thanks to the great goodwill and generosity of the people of Bolesławiec and the surrounding area (including schools, factories, commercial companies, municipal offices, associations, banks, etc., etc.), are already being used for effective examinations and procedures at our hospital. We hope that the doctors using this equipment will periodically inform our Readers about the treatment outcomes achieved with its help.
The hospital in Bolesławiec has, and always will have, many needs. For example, it urgently needs an access ramp making it possible to bring patients right to the doors.
The hospital cannot carry out this construction project on its own, but with the goodwill of construction companies and wholesalers, as well as the assistance of the army and students from construction schools, it is something that can be overcome. In my opinion, the ZOZ administration should show more initiative of its own in such matters and appeal more confidently to specific groups: potential sponsors and supporters.
The Social Committee for the Purchase of Medical Equipment for Our Hospital (which has not yet disbanded and “does not want to cool off” in its activity) intends this year to try to raise funds to purchase a LAPAROSCOPE – a very useful device for surgery. Dr Jan Hałubiec and his fellow surgeons explain what a LAPAROSCOPE is elsewhere in this issue of “Głos”.
We will write about this in greater detail in the next issue.
We recommend reading the description of the device carefully because, heaven forbid, any of us may be able to recover more quickly with its help.
With deep faith in the campaign’s success and confidence in the goodwill of the residents of the town and surrounding area, we hereby announce a campaign to help the hospital and ourselves, whose aim will be to collect money to purchase a laparoscope. We are encouraged by the fact that we already have the first few zlotys and several promises. We remind you of the “lucky” account number:
