MUSEUM OF CERAMICS
The Museum of Ceramics on Mickiewicza Street invites visitors to a new temporary exhibition from 15 February this year. We recommend the exhibition both to ceramics enthusiasts and to those who remember the author of the works, WŁADYSŁAW GARNIK. After graduating from the Wrocław PWSSP in 1962, he came to Bolesławiec to work at the ceramics school on Komuny Paryskiej Street. His artistic career began during his time in Bolesławiec; he created extensively, and his works were presented at the Bolesławiec museum as early as 1963, followed by sculpture, drawing and graphic art in 1968. He became involved in the city’s cultural life, took part in Bolesławiec ceramic plein-air workshops, and left Bolesławiec permanently with a fountain in the park on Zgorzelecka Street, a soldier’s monument by School No. 8, and a monument in Wykroty.
He currently lives in Wrocław and works primarily with ceramics. He designs functional forms for factories and is a member of the well-known Wrocław ceramic group “Not Only Us”.
He worked as an assistant in the Ceramics Department of the Wrocław PWSSP and also practices painting, graphic art, drawing, and sculpture in ceramics, stone and metal. He has received awards and distinctions for works presented in many museums and exhibitions in Poland and abroad. A few examples are worth mentioning: Grand Prix and first, third and fourth prizes at the Ceramics Biennale in Wałbrzych; in Warsaw, a distinction for a functional set at the Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics; as well as first prize in Faenza, Italy, and in Switzerland. His works are held in the collections of the museums of Bolesławiec, Wrocław, Katowice, Poznań and Wałbrzych, as well as in private collections in Poland and far beyond its borders. We warmly invite you and remind you that, except on Mondays, the Museum of Ceramics is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00, on Sundays from 11:00 to 16:00, and on Thursdays the exhibitions can be visited free of charge.
