The editorial office received a letter from Germany, from Mrs Helena Krawczyk, which we are publishing in abbreviated form. Here is its content:
"...Exactly 40 years ago, I lived in Bolesławiec for one year, attending technical school there. At that time, I lived in a dormitory and later with the Chawarski family on Mickiewicza Street. During that time, I was also a correspondent for "Gazeta Bolesławiecka" and ran a theatre club. My permanent place of residence was Zabrze, in Silesia, and from 1972 I lived with my family in Bavaria.
After so many years, in spring 1994 I would like to visit Bolesławiec, all the places I know, and possibly meet some of my former female and male classmates, whom I would like to notify before our arrival.
As a young girl, I was very happy in our town; I was 17 at the time, and now, as an almost 58-year-old woman, I want to return, even if only for a few hours, to the places of my youth. One of my female classmates was Zofia Nowicka, who married a man named Nowicki. My male classmates were: Waldemar Blacha, Henryk Biały, Lutek Lubański and Eugeniusz Wiśniewski.
The last of them was the son of a factory director and lived at 199 Bolesławice, right by the Bóbr River. After graduating from technical school, he worked at the copper mine in Iwiny. His brother-in-law worked in the city administration. After all these years, it is difficult to remember everything, but perhaps you will be able to help. In recent years, we have driven past Bolesławiec once a year, travelling from Bavaria to Silesia. Bolesławiec has expanded greatly; it is bright and green and awakens my longing. Not much can be seen from the car window, which is why I want to see Bolesławiec as it has become over the course of 40 years, walking for a few hours in the company of my female and male classmates. I kindly ask for your help in finding my former female and male classmates and sending me their addresses. My maiden name: Helena Seget; I was called Halinka. My permanent address was 16 Bielszowicka Street, Zabrze.
I sincerely thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards, Helena Krawczyk.
