Last year, we celebrated the 35th anniversary of HONORARY BLOOD DONATION. The most distinguished honorary blood donors and community activists were honored with state and organizational awards from the POLISH RED CROSS, as well as badges recognizing MERITORIOUS HONORARY BLOOD DONORS. Meetings and events were also held at HDK Clubs.
There are eight Honorary Blood Donors’ Clubs in the Bolesławiec area, bringing together 690 members.
These include Youth Clubs operating at the School Complex of Mechanical Engineering (supervisor: mgr Bronisława Gołuńska) and the School Complex of Mining (supervisor: mgr Stanisław Jędruszek), as well as four Workplace Clubs and two Local Clubs. During the first three quarters of 1993, donors from these clubs donated 371 liters of blood for medical treatment.
The presentation of state awards to honorary blood donors took place on November 20, 1993, during a ceremonial academy held in Jelenia Góra on the occasion of Honorary Blood Donation Days. The Gold Crosses of Merit were awarded to:
Zdzisław Kukla for donating 23 liters of blood. Czesław Pławiak – 20 liters, Henryk Sujkowski – 20 liters, Jan Kwiatkowski – 21 liters. The Bronze Crosses of Merit were awarded to Adam Fornal (19 liters) and Grzegorz Szwedziński (20 liters).
On November 26, during a ceremonial meeting in the hall of BFFiA “Polfa,” badges were presented. The CRYSTAL HEART badge was awarded to Janusz Rupp and Antoni Szymonik. PCK Honorary Badges, 2nd class, were awarded to Włodzimierz Markowski, Wojciech Kujawiński and Jan Michalak.
Honorary Badges, 3rd class, were awarded to Danuta Zielińska, Andrzej Kosterenko, Michał Makosiej and Piotr Długoszewski, while the PCK 4th-class badge was awarded to Ireneusz Białkowski.
Fifty donors received Meritorious Honorary Blood Donor badges, 3rd, 2nd and 1st class, along with gifts. Diplomas and letters of thanks were also presented to all the activists who contributed to the development of honorary blood donation. The Regional Board of the Polish Red Cross – the Honorary Blood Donation Council in Bolesławiec – hereby extends its heartfelt thanks to the people who, by giving blood, give life and faith in another human being, wishing them every success and lots and lots of good health.
