On 22 June, examinations for master ranks were held at the headquarters of the Polish Taekwon-Do ITF Association in Lublin. Forty-six people took part, including Bolesławiec resident Marek Marzec. The examination board was chaired by Master Ung Kim Lan from Germany (8th dan).
Marek Marzec has been training in taekwon-do for 28 years. At the end of June, he took the examination for 5th dan. The examination included, among other things, formal patterns. The board members assessed the perfection, harmony, dynamics and fluidity of the movements. Candidates for higher master ranks had to prove their skills in combat and also pass strength tests involving breaking boards with various techniques. “I am still covered in bruises,” Marzec recalls. “You had to put everything on the line,” he adds.
The Bolesławiec resident was promoted to 5th dan in ITF taekwon-do. He is one of three people in Lower Silesia and one of thirteen throughout Poland who can boast such a high master rank.
The Bolesławiec trainer began his taekwon-do journey under the guidance of Sławomir Dydiszka, who now lives in Sweden and has coached the Swedish national team there since 1991.
