Craftspeople affiliated with the Association of Polish Crafts, represented in Bolesławiec by the Guild of Various Crafts, are concerned about the City and Municipality Board and municipal enterprises commissioning renovation and construction works to companies from outside the area.
For many years, Bolesławiec’s crafts sector contributed to the expansion of the city, provided a range of services free of charge for schools and other institutions, and supported municipal initiatives.
It is particularly regrettable that the potential of local craftspeople, who have qualified staff capable of carrying out work professionally and on time, is being overlooked. As we understand it, the benefits of the activities of local craftspeople can be mutual and tangible. First, they provide employment for unemployed residents of the city and surrounding areas; the benefits of this fact require no explanation. Second, local tax revenues supplement the municipal budget, and every developing business also produces this effect. We would also like to point out that neighboring cities first commission work from small businesses and craftspeople operating in their area, while work that cannot be carried out by local business entities is commissioned from specialist companies.
For these reasons, we believe that the city authorities should pay closer attention to the issue presented.
With greetings from the crafts community
