5 HDW, or towards the fulfilment of dreams Sony Demaj, Rado of the Crew and Crew, I’m sorry that I submitted the text for publication without your prior “censorship”, but I think I approached the subject too personally. I don’t want to write historical nonsense, cold slogans or reports from meetings. Once, a colleague, a very wise man – Bernard – said that you have to feel what you write. All right... I don’t know who among you remembers my first meeting 7 It was 2 September I came to the scout club green with fear and apprehension (nothing could be seen V thanks!). You welcomed me warmly. I still felt like a stranger and was unsure, but with every minute I felt more and more part of you. I returned home full of energy and enthusiasm.
For three weeks I regularly took part in the Friday meetings. Then I suddenly stopped. The reasons? Well – so idiotic that it is embarrassing even to mention them. And finally came the week of my conversion. I crossed the threshold of the scout club again, knowing that I would never forget it. That was my story... I can see the incredulous smiles on the faces of those reading this; I know – the world is rushing forward like mad, pragmatism matters, not sentiment... So what?
There is a group of people gathered in the 5th Leonid Teliga Water Scout Crew, who live more beautifully and more fully. It was founded in February 1986 by RADOSŁAW HUGET, and is currently led by DAREK RATAJ. Every member of an individual watch becomes part of a community with its own constitution and currency. During the Crew’s Friday meetings, we play various games, fool around and sing so loudly that even old man TIME settles on the windowsill, listening spellbound. During watch meetings we learn the theory and practice of scouting and sailing. We also go out into the field both to have fun and to work. We honour traditions... What else? Each of us is different. Each has developed an individual personality.
“WOJAK”, an expert on military matters, “SIUCZKO” – the treasurer with an aversion to accounts, PAWEŁ with his theory that “ladies first”, “DZIUBY” with an unrestrained tongue, GRAŻYNKA with a strong character and dreamy eyes, “KRÓTKA” with a wonderful voice, “DEMAJ”, conflict-free and enterprising, “SZEF”, MAGDA, a firm and composed watch leader... or my kindred spirit, with whom I understand each other wonderfully – DZIKI (Sony “SPIDER”! I can already see your scandalised expression!). One thing unites us – love for people, the world and water! The most beautiful of the elements!
I am glad that the 5th HDW exists; thanks to it, I, a person who is always rushing around, rediscover the values and meanings of human existence. I stop for a moment and forget everything: school problems, quarrels at home and conflicts in the neighbourhood. I chose the 5th HDW to be myself.
So, a navy-blue uniform and off on a voyage towards our desires.
