Young people do not like formulaic events and pomp, so the CECH RZEMIOSŁ RÓŻNYCH in Bolesławiec and its Guildmaster EUGENIUSZ STACHOWSKI achieved all the greater success by organizing an interesting and successful ceremony for the OATH-TAKING OF FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS at vocational schools preparing future craftspeople. The club room of ZCh "Wizów" could barely accommodate 120 young people, their educator-teachers and masters, as well as numerous guests, including Deputy Mayor Władysław ZUZIAK, City Board members Stanisław ANDRUSIECZKO and Paweł Śliwko, Municipal Head Kazimierz GAWRON, and Urszula RUG, a councillor and chairwoman of the Education and Culture Committee in the municipality. Guests from the Jelenia Góra Education Office did not attend, which was a pity. The sponsors of the young craftspeople, Sławomir KRUK and Ryszard KULIŃSKI, did an outstanding job by providing sweet refreshments for those present.
After speeches by Guildmaster E. STACHOWSKI and P. ŚLIWKO, a moving oath-taking ceremony and the presentation of symbolic certificates—the act of admitting the students to the craft—took place. Cooperation with the Zespół Szkół Handlowych on Zgorzelecka Street is especially successful; cooperation with other educational institutions is more modest, but overall Bolesławiec has a strong, long-standing tradition in this field. In the future, after completing their education and practical training, the young people will receive journeyman and master craftspeople diplomas locally, demonstrating the standing of local specialists in the craft industries. The evening's surprise was an unannounced performance by the excellent Zespół Pieśni i Tańca "Bolesławiec", led by ELŻBIETA THOR. There was also a stage performance by older schoolmates and a disco. There was no shortage of excitement and experiences...
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Wrocław Chamber of Crafts announced—through the guilds—a competition for young people on their knowledge of crafts and the Western Territories. The finalists will go on a trip to France, so there is certainly something worth competing for among their peers.
