In the previous issue of “Głos,” we caused the poet Ignacja Kisielewska – a student of class Illb at I LO – an unfortunate poetic debut by distorting not only the ending of the poem, but also the surname of its author. As an apology, we present this poem once again, along with another one, untitled.
On the pavement People Walk Pass By From the curb Onto the street Beneath the streetlamp Darkness Brightness A stream of light Shades itself The circle of the street
* * *
Outside the window, the world rushes past at dizzying speed People chase happiness through the alleys of little streets The sun climbs the tower and strikes the bells Night takes its seat on the throne of darkness Flowers stretch their hands toward the sky And God leans out from the clouds And catches a butterfly flying into humanity’s trap
Ignacja Kisielewska.
