A cooperation agreement between pharmaceutical company Adamed and the Bolesławiec Medical Materials Factory “Polfa” S.A. was signed in mid-October. The agreement covers two projects: the first involves the production of the Kolpexin medical device, and the second the development of a prototype followed by the production of a new inhaler used to treat lung diseases.
Adamed plans to begin exporting the urinary incontinence treatment device called Kolpexin to the United States within the next six months. The projected size of the American market for this category of medical products is approximately $7 million. The Polish inhaler market, meanwhile, is estimated at nearly €4 million in annual revenue. In this case, however, the speed of bringing the product to market will depend on progress in research and design work.
The agreement signed by the two companies is the result of research into a new type of inhaler that Adamed has been conducting in Poland for nearly a year. Under the agreement, the Polish pharmaceutical company will commission Polfa Bolesławiec to develop a prototype of the new inhaler and then produce this model for the Polish market and other EU markets. The agreement is long-term in nature and provides for close cooperation between the two companies both on the research project and in the production of medical equipment.
Under the agreement, Adamed will gain access to Polfa Bolesławiec’s modern design office, equipped with a computer-aided design system for technologically advanced models of finished products and medical devices.
