Qualified medical staff will be available to everyone interested from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They will take measurements and provide advice on cardiovascular diseases.

For the third time, the organizers of the “Pressure for Life” campaign are sending a mobile testing center across Poland. This year, visitors will be able not only to have their blood pressure measured and learn their heart age free of charge, but also to check their cholesterol level. Heart age is determined by an innovative application1, developed specifically for the campaign, which determines whether a patient faces an increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.

This occurs when the calculated heart age is higher than the person’s chronological age. The good news is that heart age can be lowered! Anyone can achieve this by adopting a healthier lifestyle and, when necessary, effectively treating hypertension, diabetes or hypercholesterolemia. Losing excess weight through a healthy diet and increased physical activity, as well as quitting smoking, helps lower heart age.

People with risk factors should regularly consult a doctor about their health. That is why Heart Age Reduction Centers will be established throughout Poland, where visitors will be able to receive advice on improving their lifestyle and obtain informational materials prepared by experts from the “Pressure for Life” campaign.

– An important factor in effective prevention and good control of hypertension in the population remains knowledge of the risks associated with the disease, while a basic element is knowing one’s own blood pressure. Early detection of elevated blood pressure makes it possible to modify one’s lifestyle, which may delay or prevent the onset of hypertension and allow pharmacological treatment to be postponed or even avoided – says Professor Tomasz Zdrojewski of the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology at the Medical University of Gdańsk, a member of the campaign’s Council of Experts.

Another new feature of this year’s campaign is the “Youngest Heart” competition – an additional motivation for patients to make health-promoting changes in their lives. To enter the competition, participants simply need to submit a coupon available on the “Pressure for Life” bus, completed with stamps from a doctor confirming regular check-ups, and answer the question: “How am I trying to lower my heart age?” The coupon will be given to patients whose blood pressure, cholesterol or heart age is elevated, with the latter appropriately higher than their chronological age. Attractive prizes await competition participants.

Blood pressure, cholesterol and heart age measurements will be carried out in the specially adapted “Pressure for Life” campaign bus beside Cuprum Arena Shopping Gallery, ul. gen. Władysława Sikorskiego 20, Lubin. The free tests will be available on 20 and 21 July (Monday, Tuesday) from 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m..

Information about the nationwide “Pressure for Life” Social Campaign

The campaign aims to make Poles aware of the risks associated with a lack of prevention of cardiovascular diseases. According to 300,000 tests conducted as part of the campaign, the heart age of Poles is much higher than their chronological age. Therefore, this year’s campaign activities will promote measures that help lower heart age. The campaign’s substantive activities are supported by the Council of Experts, comprising: Professor Krzysztof Narkiewicz, Professor Stefan Grajek and Professor Tomasz Zdrojewski. The sponsor of the “Pressure for Life” campaign is Polfa Warszawa, Polpharma Group.

1 The application was developed based on the findings of Impact of atrial fibrillation on the risk of death: The Framingham Heart Study and the publication by R. D’Agostino et al., Circulation, as well as research conducted by the team of Professor T. Zdrojewski from the Medical University of Gdańsk. The study calculated heart age for people aged 20 to 74 who had not previously experienced either a heart attack or a stroke. Therefore, reliable results can be obtained in this age group.
