The Community Music Center was until recently associated with the Jeleniogórskie Towarzystwo Muzyczne, which set and collected fees, kept the accounts, issued certificates, and so on.
A few days ago, the Voivodeship Court in Jelenia Góra registered the Towarzystwo Muzyczne w Bolesławcu, established on the initiative of musicians from Bolesławiec. The primary aim of the Music Society will be to promote musical culture in the city and the surrounding area, expressed, among other things, through running a music center, organizing musical events, and providing patronage for preschools.
The Society's president is mgr Alojzy Skóra, its secretary is mgr Iwona Florkowska, and its treasurer is mgr Zofia Michalska.
The headquarters of the Society, as well as of the Community Music Center, is the State Music School on Grunwaldzka Street, which provided the Society with rooms, equipment, and musical instruments free of charge.
The Community Music Center currently educates 80 children and young people in piano, accordion, and guitar classes. It intends to expand its music education activities to include adults and young people who play music in vocal and instrumental ensembles.
For guitarists who play music, the Community Music Center intends to organize, for a small fee, a guitar school—a type of workshop where participants will be able to learn new chords, improve their guitar-playing technique, and so on. Adults, meanwhile—parents—will be able, while waiting for their children to finish their lessons, to learn musical terminology, the names and values of notes, as well as the rules of playing an instrument, such as hand position and finger placement.
The director of the Community Music Center is Beata Cichańska, an experienced musician and teacher.
