The Bolesławiec healthcare service received, as it were, a New Year’s gift: two brand-new “Renault” ambulances intended for resuscitation services, the so-called “R” ambulances. One of the ambulances was purchased by the Municipal Office, while the purchase of the other was funded by businesses, institutions, insurance companies and kind-hearted private individuals. The cost of both ambulances amounted to almost 1 billion. After the ambulances were collected, it turned out that a further 200 million złoty was still needed to cover the bill in full. The Municipal Office contributed 120 million (the money had been intended for the hospital to purchase other equipment), while nearly 80 million złoty is still missing. The appeal to kind-hearted sponsors therefore remains current. A large proportion of Bolesławiec doctors believe that it would have been possible to buy one ambulance and use the remaining money for modern equipment for it. A new ambulance without modern equipment will not be able to effectively perform the functions of an “R” ambulance. m.g.Fundraising for the campaign launched by Jurek Owsiak. After the successful concert in December, students from class IIIa of I LO collected nearly 6 million złoty during a collection held at municipal offices and institutions. On January 3, when the Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was taking place throughout Poland, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre organized a musical event in the foyer of the “Forum” cinema, a kind of Jam Session. During performances by local bands, 11 million złoty was collected. The donors were not only young people. Adults and children also joined the spontaneous collection. The amount of money collected in Bolesławiec was almost enough for one operation on a sick child. All the residents of Bolesławiec are happy that they were able to help. And what was it like in the capital? On the day of the Grand Finale, all of Warsaw was plastered with Jurek Owsiak’s red hearts. Collections were organized at every turn. Everyone who wanted to help joined the campaign. The exciting atmosphere on television and the festive mood, interspersed with spontaneous cheers whenever another billion was displayed on the board, were unforgettable experiences for Kasia and Marcin. You had to be there with everyone else to feel the atmosphere of “warm hearts”. Hundreds of people arriving from all corners of Poland with bags of money passed through the television building all day. For Kasia and Marcin, this festive day ended with a concert at “Stodoła”. There, too, everyone had a wonderful time, because they were able to unite their hearts for sick children.
