Through the efforts of the Association of Friends of the Drohobycz Region, a coach trip to Drohobych and the surrounding area took place in the summer of this year, leaving the participants with indelible memories. The participants stayed in the hospitable homes of Poles, who will in turn be invited to Bolesławiec. A meeting with the Ukrainian city authorities and Ukrainian associations was also held in Drohobych. It turned out that old animosities and grievances remained, although they are not spoken of officially. Nor written about.
One of the fruits of the trip is a three-hour video film made by Mr Janusz Kowalski. On 17 September, the “Pegaz” Club of BOK made its hall available for a meeting of Drohobych residents living in Bolesławiec. The main topic of the meeting was a talk illustrated with the video film entitled “Drohobych Yesterday and Today”. Among those attending the meeting were, among others, Deputy Mayor P. Jan Jasiukiewicz and the president and members of the Main Board of the Association of Friends of the Drohobycz Region. The Association’s aims and forms of activity were presented. Its main aim is to save from oblivion the Polish identity of Drohobych, Boryslav, Truskavets and the entire Drohobych region, maintain ties with the Poles living there, and care for monuments and historical sites connected with Polish identity.
In matters concerning the Association’s activities, you can contact Mr Adam Kowalski by telephone at 25-85 or the chairman of the SPZD Circle, Mr Tadeusz Wodas, at his work number 32-36, extension 87.
