On November 6 this year, the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association Congress was held in Bolesławiec. It will be a memorable date for Bolesławiec scouts, because on that day two troops—the city and municipal troops—merged. A troop commander was elected. The position went to Scoutmaster Roman Larysz.
The Congress was attended by the Commander of the Lower Silesian Scout Region, Scoutmaster Dariusz Ostrowski, and Mrs. Stefania Karaban, a representative of the Bolesławiec Municipal Office.
Plans for the future of the scouts and instructional staff were discussed. The most important included educating young people to respect human dignity and patriotic values; teaching them to live together in a group, develop a sense of responsibility and duty, help those in need, and act in accordance with the Scout Law and Promise.
The Szare Szeregi ZHP Troop in Bolesławiec has a long and magnificent tradition. It also has good facilities, now expanded by the property of the incorporated Municipal Troop. Thanks to cooperation with the Polish Army, its recreational facilities have also been enlarged with areas around the so-called “Falklands.” Approximately 300 children from Bolesławiec Municipality used these facilities during the last summer holidays.
The climate for scouting in Bolesławiec is very good. The city and municipal authorities have always provided considerable assistance and have also positively assessed the contribution made by ZHP both to children’s and young people’s recreation and to activities during the school year. One can only wish that this climate continues, and that the hearts of the city and municipal authorities, people in military uniforms, and the city’s residents remain friendly and supportive of ZHP activities.
On behalf of the cub scouts, scouts, and instructors of the new ZHP Troop in Bolesławiec, the undersigned would like to thank all those who have offered their support during difficult times and, on the occasion of Christmas and the approaching New Year, asks them to accept the best wishes from the scouting community.
May this climate of goodwill toward ZHP continue, and may the scouts and instructors assure everyone that the words of the scouting anthem, “Everything that is ours, we will give to Poland...,” will be put into practice every day through good study, work, and conduct.
