The City of Bolesławiec has joined the group of 23 European local governments that were awarded the European Diploma this year. The awards ceremony took place on June 25 at the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The European Diploma for Bolesławiec was accepted by the city’s mayor. In addition to Bolesławiec, five other Polish cities also received the European Diploma: Dąbrowa Górnicza, Lubliniec, Malbork, Nysa and Tarnów.

It is worth noting that the Council of Europe awards one main distinction every year—the Europe Prize—for particular achievements in strengthening European structures. To receive it, one must first obtain the European Diploma, the European Flag of Honour and the European Plaque of Honour. In this year’s edition, the Europe Prize went to Katowice.

Among its many pro-European activities, Bolesławiec was recognized for its very good cooperation with other cities. Bolesławiec maintains partnerships and carries out joint projects with the following cities: Pirna, Siegburg (Germany), Marjagerfjord (Denmark), Nogent-sur-Marne (France), Česká Lípa (Czech Republic), Prnjavor (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Molde (Norway).
