Farmers from our municipality took part on 2 and 6 October in the POL-AGRA '92 International Agricultural and Industrial Fair in Poznań.
A total of 78 participants took part in the two organized trips, interested in becoming directly acquainted with the new products presented at the exhibition. It was impossible both to see all the stands during a one-day excursion and to describe the impressions from the visit in a short note.
From the advertising brochures, we learned that products and services were offered by more than 900 domestic companies and nearly 800 foreign ones from 29 countries. The producers presented a very rich and diverse range of their products, beginning with the most modern agricultural machinery and equipment, continuing through machines for agri-food processing and food, and ending with a colorful exhibition of fruit, vegetables and flowers.
The latest design solutions for agricultural machinery, mainly combines, tractors and seed drills—small and easy to operate—were of particularly great interest to the owners of medium-sized farms, who had previously worked with technically outdated and heavily worn equipment.
However, the high prices of the displayed products meant that visitors generally limited themselves to looking at and admiring the exhibits. Modern, aesthetically designed food-processing machines were presented with demonstrations of their operation, and each device was supplied with a description of its use, operating method and basic technical data.
While touring the stands with technical equipment, it was impossible to overlook the fair’s distinctive ornament: an exhibition of agricultural produce and ornamental plants. Located in a glazed, two-level pavilion, it attracted considerable interest, above all from allotment gardeners, who had the opportunity to learn about original varieties of flora and obtain seedlings and seeds of unique plant species.
Amid this veritable tangle of plants known from our gardens and homes, as well as exotic varieties, visitors could see original advertisements attracting their attention (wedding bouquets presented by a “bride” in the setting of a garden gazebo; fountains; mini-ponds planted with abundant vegetation and containing floating banknotes; eastern motifs: Japanese fans and parasols). There were also models presenting ingenious solutions for landscaping green areas.
