Municipality area – 288.7 sq km (28,870 ha) The Bolesławiec Municipality is located in the north-eastern part of the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship, in the valley of the Bóbr River.
It borders:
to the south, the Lwówek Śląski Municipality,
to the west, the Nowogrodziec and Osiecznica Municipalities,
to the north, the Szprotawa Municipality in the Zielona Góra Voivodeship,
to the east, the Gromadka and Warta Bolesławiecka Municipalities in the Legnica Voivodeship.
Number of village districts – 29, including: in the north: Kozłów, Stara Oleszna, Trzebień Mały, Trzebień, Parkoszów, Golnice, Lipiany, Nowa Wieś, Dąbrowa, Krępnica, Łąka, Chościszowice.
in the east: Kraśnik Dolny, Kraśnik Górny, Kruszyn,
in the west: Bolesławice, Dobra, Brzeźnik, Mierzwin,
in the south: Ocice, Nowa, Kraszowice, Otok, Bożejowice-Rakowice, Nowe Jaroszowice, Suszki, Łaziska, Stare Jaroszewice, Że-liszów.
The municipality has 10,662 residents (as of 15 June 1992). Among the villages of the Bolesławiec Municipality, the largest populations are found in: Kruszyn, Ocice, Brzeźnik, Łaziska and Kraśnik Dolny. The smallest villages include Kozłów and Chościszowice, each with approximately 60 residents.
The distances from the individual villages to the city of Boleslawiec range from 2 to 21 km. Since January this year, the number of village districts served by MZK public transport has increased from 7 to 21 (Kruszyn, Łaziska, Łąka, Chościszowice, Dąbrowa, Golnice, Trzebień, Stara Oleszna, Kozłów, Kraśnik Dolny, Nowa Wieś, Lipiany, Bolesławice, Dobra, Otok, Bożejowice-Rakowice, Kraszowice, Nowa, Ocice, Brzeźnik, Mierzwin).
The Mayor of the Municipality is Kazimierz Gawron, and the chairperson of the Municipal Council is Jacek Koziowski.
The Bolesławiec Municipal Council has 23 councillors, representing the following electoral districts:

THE EXECUTIVE BODY of the Bolesławiec Municipal Council is the Municipal Board, comprising the Mayor of the Municipality, who serves as chairperson of the Board, and six Board members.
The committees reporting to THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL undertake and carry out all initiatives within the Council’s remit. Councillors of the Bolesławiec Municipal Council participate in the work of the following committees:
