School football competitions for the Bolesławiec championship in the primary and secondary school categories. The final of these games: SP-2 – SP-9, ZSM – ZSE. The Provincial semifinal: SP2 – SP Nowogrodziec. An indoor tournament for the Garrison Commander's Cup on the occasion of Independence Day. A provincial ranking table tennis tournament featuring the Polish champion. A Third League match between TOP Bolesławiec and Orlęta Kłodzko. League matches involving footballers, basketball players and volleyball players. A football match between BKS and Miedź Legnica. These are the sporting events held in Bolesławiec over several days at the beginning of November. Are the results achieved by Bolesławiec athletes of interest to anyone? According to TLB head Mr. Dariusz Wędzina, to those watching our local television station – NO! Not one of the above-mentioned events was worthy of the TLB camera's “eye.” The sports news was dropped from the program.
As early as July this year, the sports news disappeared from the screen. And this happened just as it was taking on a very interesting form, including interviews with athletes and filmed and spoken reports from nearly all events in city sports. There are, however, other programs, repeated several times, such as the equestrian antics of some of our councillors chasing a fox's brush, as well as the prices of carrots and parsley—things that are supposedly of such great interest to everyone—which have found a place in the main edition of the Sunday local news. I appeal here to the readers of the “GB” sports page and those watching TLB programs: let us demand sports coverage. Let us call and write to the TLB editorial office about bringing back sports news. After all, sport occupies an ever-greater place in all media and is a staple of every television or radio station. Editorial offices compete for the rights to broadcast events. After all, promoting sport by showing it on television screens inspires masses of young enthusiasts to take up sports. It is also a reward and recognition for the effort invested in arduous training. Our TLB must also fulfill this task and cannot shirk it. This is my opinion, as Mr. Wędzina emphasized in his conversation with me, but I think it is not mine alone. I am convinced that a report on an interesting sporting event would attract more viewers to their screens than a boring report on councillors' proceedings.
